Kilbroney Show moves

Since 1995 the Kilbroney 2000 Old Vehicle Show has been an extremely popular event not just with old vehicle enthusiasts but the general public who all flocked to Rostrevor for the Annual event

In the past entrants have traveled from as far away as New York, Limerick, Cork, Malin, Strabane, London & Coventry not forgetting Scotland. Unfortunately while Kilbroney Park is a beautiful setting in good weather the event has had to be called off for the past two years due to severe flooding.

Reluctantly a new venue had to be found with all weather facilities. From the many sites considered, Ballymena Showgrounds proved the most suitable and the replacement for the Kilbroney Show is to be known as the AOVC Classic Show. The first new show will be on Saturday 27th June 2009 and in future on the last Saturday in June.

The Showgrounds site is easily accessed from all directions without the need to go through the Town Centre. This year's event is open to all old vehicles first registered on or before 31' December 1988. Cars, commercials, tractors, motorbikes, scooters and steam vehicles are all very welcome with FREE Stands for old vehicle clubs. A special display celebrating 50 years of the MINI will be given prominence in the Arena there.

The Graham Robson Road Show, remote controlled Models, Model Club Displays, a Craft Fair and Cars for Sale Section, Radio Station plus a Food Village, Autojumblers, Traders and Market Stalls with Country Market are among the many other attractions. Free shuttle buses will be operating all day to and from the town centre and nearby shopping centres to the Showgrounds.

To date over 20 clubs have booked a free stand and private entries are arriving every day. Limited overnight parking at the ECOS CENTRE beside the Showgrounds is free for traders with Caravan/ Mobile Homes. The DES ALLEN SUITE will be open for breakfasts up to 11am and event programmes will be numbered with spot prizes on the day.

The Event is sponsored by Classic and Collectable Club Insurances Ltd. part of the Autoline Insurance group, which has offices in Ballymena, Coleraine, Downpatrick, Dungannon & Newry along with Ballymena Borough Council & Irish Vintage Scene, Ireland's only glossy old vehicle magazine.
