AOVC Classic Show announced
Thursday, 13 May 2010
The AOVC Classic Show 2010, is once again being sponsored by Ballymena Borough Council in conjunction with Irish Vintage Scene magazine and Autoline Classic, incorporating James Campbell & Son, who have been insuring classic vehicles for many years now.
At this year's AOVC Classic show we expect to build on the 1,000+ vintage and classic cars that were on display in 2009 and have also lined up some new attractions for 2010 to make it an enjoyable day out for all the family.
One of the new features is the attendance of the Northern Ireland Association of Aero modelers [NIAA]. The NIAA represents the 26 clubs in N. Ireland as Area 13 of the British Model Flying Association [BMFA]. At the Classic show the NIAA will be carrying out flying demonstrations during the day in the main arena, some of which will involve Control Line Flying, where the models fly around the pilot, connected by steel lines and will allow the pilot to carry out an Aerobatics schedule. Also on show will be radio controlled Jets, which because of their size, will not be flying, but will be on static display and are the most exciting, exhilarating of any aeroplane that a person can fly by radio control, these models can reach speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, not for the faint hearted or beginner. This is one attraction not to be missed.
Also new this year is the added, exciting attraction of the MG Car Club, who will be bringing along approximately a dozen cars, mainly MG Midget's, Mini's and Caterhams to provide an Autotest and a bit of showmanship. They will demonstrate car control and handling on the tarmac surface of the arena perimeter at various times throughout the day.
These can be viewed from the comfort of the Grandstand.
This is in addition to the model car display, trade stands of all kinds, 'car's for sale' section, where classic vehicles can be purchased on the day, a craft marquee, an autojumble, and amusements for the children, in fact something for everyone.
Make sure you get to the show early so as not to miss any of these exciting displays as they happen, good entertainment for all the family. Gates open at 10.00 am.
