AOVC Classic Show reaches 850 entries

Organisers of the AOVC Classic Show in Ballymena Showgrounds (Saturday 27th June 2009) are reporting a fantastic response from vintage & classic enthusiasts and clubs from Ireland and the U K mainland.

Entries now include the General Lee from Dukes of Hazard and A Team van which will appeal those who spent many a Saturday evening in front of the telly enjoying these iconic shows.  The organisers have also announced the inclusion of a Four Wheel Drive display.

We are only a few weeks away from the largest vintage & classic vehicle show in Northern Ireland and the response has been significant with over 850 private vehicle entries and 40 vintage & classic clubs from Ireland booked.

AOVC Chairman Reg Bell says:

"We're delighted at the interest generated so far for this new event at Ballymena Showgrounds on 27th June.  Sponsored by Irish Vintage Scene magazine, Classic & Collectable Club Insurances Ltd and supported by Ballymena District Council, the event will bring together all types of vintage and classic vehicles including cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, scooters, tractors, stationary engines and steam engines, in addition to a host of family entertainment.

"To date we have had over 850 private entries with one 1930 Austin 16/6 Burnham Saloon travelling all the way from Gosport in the UK.  Another interesting local entry is an Aston Martin DB6 Vantage.  To date, 40 Vintage & Classic Clubs from NI and the ROI have already booked their free stand area," the Chairman adds.

Any vehicle registered on or before the 31st December 1988 can be entered and entertainment on the day includes The Graham Robson Road Show, amusements, a Food Court, Autojumblers, Market Traders, remote controlled Models, Model Club Displays, a Craft Fair, Country Market and Cars for Sale Section.

The event takes place in the Ballymena Showgrounds, just 40 minutes from Belfast and two and half hours from Donegal. Free shuttle buses will be operating all day to and from Ballymena town centre and nearby shopping centres to the Showgrounds for anyone who wants to indulge in some retail therapy while the motor enthusiasts are at the show.

With tickets priced at £10 (payable on entry) for 2 adults and 2 children, it promises to be a great value day out for families. Check out the dedicated web site for full entry prices - www.aovcclassicshow.co.uk
